Deciding to focus on mastering

So a few years ago, I got very sick, and after going to a lot of different doctors and still not getting any answers, I realized that I would no longer be able to play live music and tour as I was currently. So finally, after having a full-on meltdown in a doctor's office, I got put in touch with a doctor that specialized in something called autonomic dysfunction and dysautonomia. I began treatment with her, and It was plodding progress, but I made show improvement every few months. Still, as long as this was going to take back to any sense of normalcy, I knew that being a live musician was probably not going to be my main focus anymore.

I had attended college years earlier at MTSU for audio engineering and business. However, since I was stuck on my couch for more than a year, not being able to do anything from being so sick, I began more and more falling back in love with working in audio. I would wake up and watch as many deep-dive videos into mixing and mastering sessions as I could, all the while taking diligent notes. Keeping my mind focused on something during this period in my life gave me some sense of happiness and a new goal to go to set my sights on.

After my doctors did many more tests, they discovered the root of what had caused all of my neuro problems. I had gotten Lyme disease that had gone untreated and therefore wrecked my nervous system. It has since then gone inactive, but I still never venture too close to wooded areas ever before. At last, we had a clear picture of what caused everything and locked in on a more focused treatment plan, and I began to have more hope about the future.

Since this medical issue, most of my symptoms have gone down tremendously, but I am still dealing with anxiety, dizziness, and fatigue. This new normal is why a shift in what my goals were musically has been such a good fit. I now focus on mixing and mastering, which is far lower on the anxiety scale, and I can do it from home, where I am at my most relaxed state. In some ways, mixing, mastering, and audio, in general, helped pull me through the worst period in my life. Still, I look forward to working with some fantastic artists and bands in the future to get their tracks sounding perfectly in line with their artistic vision.
